Cover Fruit with Old Cloth to Protect from Ground Squirrels and Birds

Through trial and error, I found that covering the fruit with scrap or rag cloth or bagging the fruit is one of the the best ways to prevent ground squirrels and birds from eating those delicious ripe peaches and figs.
For me, plastic netting for peaches and almonds does not work, the ground squirrels will cut a hole in the netting if they see the fruit.
