At a Policy Committee meeting on 10/22/2020 school board members discuss the drafting of a Gender Support Guideline Policy. Up for discussion, Chief Equity Officer, Dr. Dena Keeling discusses with lawyer and school board members Hillary MacKenzie, Carrie Doyle, Sarah Smylie on how students can keep their gender transition plan from parents. Parents have the legal right to request all student records (FERPA). If there is no written record at school of the drafted gender plan for a student then parents will have no idea as it will not exist in the student's record.
