In January 2009, recently unemployed crew chief Tommy Baldwin, a former Daytona 500 winning crew chief with Ward Burton and Bill Davis Racing, bought some of BDR's assets following the team's closure and set out on his own, opening the No. 36 Tommy Baldwin Racing team. Scott Riggs, who had been released from his ride following the merger between Haas CNC and Tony Stewart to create Stewart-Haas Racing, was selected as the team's driver. Riggs would race his way into the Daytona 500, and make the following round at Auto Club Speedway. Riggs and TBR would begin missing races, and midway through the 2009 season, Riggs would leave. Series veteran and former Truck Champion Mike Skinner would take over for the summer, with Patrick Carpentier and Michael McDowell finishing off the schedule. 2010 saw TBR switch manufacturers from Toyota to Chevrolet and hire Mike Bliss to driver full-time. WAVE Energy Drink would sign on as a sponsor. After lackluster results, Bliss and TBR would part ways. TBR would then begin using a variety of drivers, including Casey Mears, Geoff Bodine, Dave Blaney, Johnny Sauter and JJ Yeley. Blaney would join full-time in 2011, and would remain with the team through 2013. In 2014, Michael Annett would join and run for Rookie of the Year. Alex Bowman would drive for the team in 2015, and Regan Smith in 2016. Baldwin would scale back his operation in 2017, just running the four Restrictor Plate races. TBR would lay dormant in 2018 after Tommy Baldwin would join Premium Motorsports. 2019 saw Ryan Truex attempt the Daytona 500, missing the cut. After again laying dormant following Truex's DNQ, the team would return in 2020, with Josh Bilicki doing most of the driving.
