Take A Break

Taking a day off is a great spiritual habit to form. I used to go, go, go until I would crash and burn. God did not create our bodies, minds, spirits, souls to not need rest. It is kind of cool to see how He built rest into our week. I call it a Sabbath day. Once I started taking time off during the week, at least one half a day to a full day, I felt such refreshment in my soul and my health got better. I noticed when I took a day off a week that I wasn’t having those crash and burn days where I just had absolutely no drive or energy. God created us for needing a Sabbath, a time of rest. When we follow after the way we were designed to be, we are much better human beings! Isn’t that the truth! We can actually see all throughout the Old Testament how God warned us that we needed rest, a Sabbath day. He not only asked us to rest, but He provided for it. Do you rest? Think About It: Do you take any time off to rest your soul? God even did it… six days of creation and rested on the 7th day. Rest. We take a day off and God provides for us through the other six days. When we take that Sabbath rest, that day off, it refreshes us personally and we are ready to work and do well the rest of the week. We live in very culturally chaotic times, and that requires a lot of soul reactions and emotional engagement. We need to replenish our soul in times such as these, so we don’t end up with damaged emotions. I remember pushing myself so hard, every single day with no rest, and it did not fare well for me emotionally, physically or spiritually. I was not kind, I was not civil and I was not compassionate. A good description of me when I have too much on my plate and take no time off to rest is this: Compassion Fatigue. Without rest, things never ended well for me. But when I started taking that day off, that Sabbath rest, everything changed up for me. I felt more creative in my work, I felt stronger physically, more alert spiritually, and emotionally very stabilized. It is always good to refurbish, renovate, restore, revive, replenish, your soul. When you do. You finish well. Dig Deeper: https://thebridegroomscafe.com/be-replenished/
