March 4, 2022 - U.S. Army Soldiers with 2nd Cavalry Regiment and 1st Infantry Division train alongside the Romanian 9th Mechanized Infantry Brigade during a Combined Arms Live-Fire Exercise (CALFEX) at Smardan Training Area, Romania. U.S. Army Soldiers fired Romanian small arms weapons and T55 Tanks. 2nd Cavalry Regiment and 1st Infantry Division are among other units assigned to V Corps, America's forward deployed corps in Europe that works alongside NATO allies and regional security partners to provide combat-credible forces; executes joint, bilateral and multinational training exercises; and provides command and control for rotational and assigned units in the European theater. The CALFEX strengthens bonds of friendship between US and Romanian Forces and helps deter further aggression in Europe.
