Since about 30,000 years ago, humans have developed a unique bond with dogs, or that was the first time dogs were domesticated by humans.

Alex Benjamin, a psychology professor who studies dog cognition at York University in the UK, explains that studying dogs is a great opportunity to look at interspecies communication.

According to research from the Journal of Current Biology, dogs can even signal their gaze to convey messages to humans.

For example, when a dog is not given his favorite food when he is hungry, his eyes then show a sparkling look that makes humans feel exasperated.
