World premiere of the new VOLKSWAGEN MULTIVAN T7 lifestyle feeling conquering the future

One of them is an MPV: the Multivan. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is now presenting the world premiere of a generation of this best-seller based on a completely new concept. The new Bulli is for the first time based on the Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB). In technical terms it is thus making a quantum leap: from now on, the drive system portfolio has a new feature, a plug-in hybrid. The Multivan can thus temporarily become a zero-emission vehicle. New, cutting-edge assistance, operating and infotainment systems also feature in the model line for the first time. Maximum advances have also been made in the area of crash safety. The Bulli's unique design DNA has been enhanced throughout its evolution: no other MPV has been made for over 70 years and from generation to generation visually honed like a diamond. The new Multivan too is therefore immediately identifiable as a successor of the legendary ‘T1’.

the new Multivan can even take those along too. The new Multivan generation
will arrive on the market in the second half of this year.
Multi-Utility Vehicle – One vehicle, countless possibilities
With this up to seven-seater vehicle, available in ‘Multivan’, ‘Life’ and ‘Style’
specifications, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is transferring a special
automotive feel for life into the connected and digitalised present and future.
Designed above all for families and active sporty people, this multi-utility vehicle
(MUV) fits with its completely new seating and cargo space system into
countless mobility scenarios. This applies all the more as in parallel with the
base model Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will also be offering the new

System output of the electric motor plus turbocharged petrol
engine (TSI): 160 kW / 218 PS.
Thanks to a lithium-ion battery with an energy content of 13 kWh, the Multivan
eHybrid masters typical daily distances on purely electric power. In Germany, for
example, a study1 by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure
shows that 95% of all day-to-day car journeys are less than 50 kilometres. The
plug-in hybrid drive system has been conceived in such a way that the Multivan
eHybrid starts by default on purely electric power and thus automatically does
short trips in particular with no on-road emissions. Only at a speed of over 130
km/h does the frugal TSI kick in.
3 four-cylinder engines – 2 turbocharged petrol and 1 turbo diesel
In parallel with the plug-in hybrid drive system, the front-wheel powered
Multivan will be available with two four-cylinder turbocharged engines. They
produce 100 kW / 136 PS and 150 kW / 204 PS. Adding to this next year will be a
four-cylinder turbo diesel engine (TDI) with a power output of 110 kW / 150 PS.
Automatic transmission – The new Multivan comes with DSG as standard
All drive system versions are coupled as standard to a dual clutch gearbox (DSG).
The eHybrid's 6-speed DSG is a gearbox (DQ400E) specifically developed for the
plug-in hybrid drive system and forms a single unit with the electric motor. The
gearbox being used for the TSI versions and the later TDI is a 7-speed DSG. For
the first time in the Multivan, selecting gear is done by wire and thus extremely
simply via a small DSG selector button on the instrument panel.
Semi-automated driving – First Bulli with ‘IQ.DRIVE Travel Assist’
The number of assist systems has been significantly increased. Depending on
specification, there are now more than 20 systems. Standard features always
