Cutting cymbidium spikes with beautiful blooms on them, prematurely, is not an easy thing to do. However, cutting cymbidium spikes with beautiful blooms on them, prematurely, has been recommended by Lynn Brooks, so as to trigger new growths earlier than they would appear if the spikes were to hold on to their blooms for their maximum duration. Seeing as my cymbidium blooms took a beating, due to inclement weather, cutting these spikes off is easier. By the way... you can enjoy the beauty of cymbidium blooms in a vase, if you were to cut them off prematurely.
