DESCRIPTION:

Against a backdrop of lynching and Jim Crow segregation in the United States of America, Colonel Allen Allensworth and fourteen (14) Black American families chartered the town of Allensworth in Tulare County, California in 1908.

The town grows to a population of three-hundred (300) before water shortages and political subterfuge bring it to the edge of extinction during the 1950s. Then one (1) of the former pioneers starts a movement to reconstruct the town.

Today it has become a rallying point for Black Americans nationwide.
