The Andromeda Galaxy is also known as Messier 31 or M31,
It is a spiral galaxy located about 2.5 million light-years from Earth.
it is the closest spiral galaxy to the Milky Way.
Andromeda is the most massive galaxy in the Local Group.
There are around 1 trillion stars in the galaxy.
In 3.75 billion years, the Andromeda and Milky Way will collide & merge to form a giant elliptical galaxy.
Andromeda was formed between 5 - 9 billion years ago when two smaller galaxies collided & merged.
The Andromeda Galaxy is bright enough to be seen on Earth by the naked eye on moonless nights.
The Andromeda Galaxy is approaching the Milky Way at rate of around 110 kilometres per second.
The Andromeda Galaxy has at least two spiral arms & a ring of dust.
