Mariana Vishegirskaya is the pregnant woman in the widely publicized photos of the incident at the Mariupol maternity hospital.

In an interview, Mariana Vishegirskaya destroyed the official narrative of a Russian airstrike on the Mariupol maternity hospital: "We later started to discuss whether we were air bombed. They told us there were no airstrikes. Therefore, we were correct, that we heard no airstrikes and neither did they. They said that it was a shell that hit us. There were no more explosions except for the two ones we heard."

Mariana confirmed that the Ukrainian military did occupy the Mariupol maternity hospital. She said they provided no help whatsoever, and that they even took food from the expectant mothers.

Mariana also spoke about a cameraman "on-site" during the time of the two explosions on
March 9, 2022.
