Pruning Chinese Fringetree or Chionanthus Retusus

Chinese Fringetree can grow over thirty feet tall. I wanted to keep it lower to see the blossoms at ground level and through a second story window. There's not use having blossoms above the roof!

I was able to cut off one to two inch diameter branches at about ten to fifteen feet. This method has worked for several years keeping the tree shorter. Interesting the botantical name chionanthus means "snow flowers." And the fringy blooms are, in fact, as white as snow.
