Plus-Size Model Kimberly E. Stone is a huge proponent of heading 'back to retailers to buy' for Black Friday deals and below she outlines why it is important to boost mood using the shopping method, which, in turn, will also improve the economy:
-Shopping restores a sense of control- Making shopping decisions can help reinforce a sense of personal control over our environment. It can also ease feelings of sadness.
-Visualization distracts us from anxiety- Shopping stimulates the senses. This type of visualization can create positive anticipation and can reduce anxiety.
-Dopamine is released even before a purchase is made- Anticipation of the possibility of a reward releases dopamine — the hormone neurotransmitter in your brain that makes you feel good.
-The psychological perks of saving up- Saving up for your reward gives you something to look forward to, which creates excitement and a release of dopamine over time.
She says, "I think we are all really curious: especially with ecommerce at play. Brands are always looking for engagement and brand evangelists to share their love for the products in-store. The emotional aspect of shopping boosts our mood and helps us really relate to what we are wearing on our bodies and face, and allows us to truly have the luxury experience with brands."
