Did you know certain foods can release histamines?

It's true. There are particular foods that contain high amounts of histamines and foods that are categorized as "histamine liberators." At first glance this may not seem like a big deal, but if we're continually eating foods without the knowledge of this happening, the result could be excess histamines in our system that are responsible for a number of different symptoms. Beyond a runny nose and watery eyes, you could be experiencing headaches, bloating, diarrhea, or even anxiety.

Histamine release is a natural part of our biology, but when left unchecked the resulting symptoms can be quite irritating. This week we're looking at an enzyme that helps combat unruly histamine release, something called diamine oxidase, that helps neutralize histamines in our digestive tract. Ed breaks down why this enzyme may be one of the most important for someone experiencing unexplainable symptoms.
