The Nakagin tower was one of the most visited architectural sites in Tokyo. A creation of the architect Kisho Kurokawa owes its fame to the concept of sustainability and the low environmental impact as it consists of two towers and 140 prefabricated housing units that had to be replaced every 25 years. But something went wrong and the iconic tower, starting last week, is being torn down. A few months ago I went inside and talked to one of the owners who explained to me why it was a challenge to keep it alive
