The last residents of the Capsule Tower (Tokyo Nakagin)

The Nakagin tower was one of the most visited architectural sites in Tokyo. A creation of the architect Kisho Kurokawa owes its fame to the concept of sustainability and the low environmental impact as it consists of two towers and 140 prefabricated housing units that had to be replaced every 25 years. But something went wrong and the iconic tower, starting last week, is being torn down.
