Book of the Law (continued)

Aleister Crowley' s bizarre and controversial little red book, Liber Al Legis, or, The Book of the Law, stands as one of the most interesting esoteric works of all time. Supposedly channeled by Aleister's own Holy Guardian Angel, :"Aiwass," the "solar-phallic Lucifer," acting as a minister for Haar-par-kraat, twin god of silence...well, lets save all of that for the livestream.
The real value of this book (aside from being the only purported prophetical writing to be acknowledged by professional sceptics as "interesting, but not conclusive,") is its message of Universal Divinity, the conterminous nature of Deity, the sovereignty of individual Will, and the dawning of a new Golden Age of mankind. After a bit of trouble. I said the book was prophetical, didn't I?
The metaphysics of the book, especially when paired with any one of Crowley's commentaries, are unparalleled, and the poetic prose of the book is at times a wonder of dazzling literary pyrotechnics. Here are a few tantalizing passages: “There is no bond that can unite the divided but love.” “Remember all ye that existence is pure joy; that all the sorrows are but as shadows; they pass & are done; but there is that which remains.” "If Will stops and cries Why, invoking Because, then Will stops & does nought. If Power asks Why, then is Power weakness" “He shall fall down into a pit called Because, and there he shall perish with the dogs of reason." “Let my servants be few & secret: they shall rule the many & the known.” :
"None breathed the light, faint & faery, of the stars, and...(became) two. For I am divided for love’s sake, for the chance of union."
" This is the creation of the world, that the pain of division is as nothing, and the joy of dissolution, all." "In the sphere I am everywhere the centre, as she, the circumference, is nowhere found.
Yet she shall be known & I, never. "
These last few lines reveal several of the greatest secrets of creation, and in very plain language. and then there are beautiful lines such as the following:
"Beauty and strength, leaping laughter and delicious languor, force and fire, are of us."
"I am the Snake that giveth Knowledge & Delight and bright glory, and stir the hearts of men with
drunkenness. To worship me take wine and strange drugs whereof I will tell my prophet, & be drunk thereof!
They shall not harm ye at all. It is a lie, this folly against self. The exposure of innocence is a lie. Be strong,
o man! lust, enjoy all things of sense and rapture: fear not that any God shall deny thee for this."
"Wisdom says: be strong! Then canst thou bear more joy. Be not
animal; refine thy rapture! If thou drink, drink by the eight and ninety rules of art: if thou love, exceed by delicacy; and if thou do aught joyous, let there be subtlety therein! "
"Then saith the prophet and slave of the beauteous one: Who am I, and what shall be the sign? So she answered him, bending down, a lambent flame of blue, all-touching, all penetrant, her lovely hands upon
the black earth, & her lithe body arched for love, and her soft feet not hurting the little flowers: Thou knowest! And the sign shall be my ecstasy, the consciousness of the continuity of existence, the omnipresence #aleistercrowley #thebookofthelaw #occult #spirituality #thegreatbeast #666 #doasthouwilt #thelema #psychedlics #channeling #illuminati #newaeon #magick #satanic #lucifer
of my body."
"Then the priest answered & said unto the Queen of Space, kissing her lovely brows, and the dew of her light bathing his whole body in a sweet-smelling perfume of sweat: O Nuit, continuous one of Heaven, let it be ever thus; that men speak not of Thee as One but as None; and let them speak not of thee at all, since thou art continuous!"
Tomorrow night we dive deep into the book, guided by one of three major commentaries written by Crowley, despite the Books admonishment that "those who study this Book are to be shunned as centres of Pestilence."
Centres of Pestilence or not, we will study this book, and profit from the words of our prophet, who in the words of Moby Dick author Herman Melville was "in a sense, lower than whale shit, but in another sense, he was higher than God's hat. But then...anyone that knows anything knows that God's hat is made of whale shit."
Guaranteed to be mind-blower. Do as Thou Whilt, Love is the Law.
