Jaguar Gene Therapy, a biotech company focused on genetic diseases, announced that Samsung Ventures, the venture capital subsection of Samsung Electronics, has invested 139 million dollars into the company. The funding will also stem from JDRF, a venture philanthropy, as part of its Type 1 Diabetes (T-1-D) fund.
Jaguar is currently advancing three investigational AAV-based gene therapies in preclinical development, which involve gene replacement, gene silencing and gene editing. With these secured funds, Jaguar will be able advance prerequisite chemistry, manufacturing and controls (C-M-C) infrastructure while augmenting the effort to advance into Investigational New Drug (I-N-D) research to be greenlit by the U-S-F-D-A in the future.
