Heavy LAYENS Swarm Traps? Get Them Down SAFELY With THIS System!
The first time going 10 feet up a ladder with a 25.5 pound Layens swarm trap under my arm, I knew I needed to figure out a way to do it better. And by better, I mean more safely. Much more safely. How did Dr. Leo make it look so easy?
But, as they say, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” So here’s my invention! A simple but effective pulley system that makes me feel WAY better about getting my swarm traps down.
Tell me about your ideas or if you try this one in the comments! Happy swarm catching!
Supplies:
⅜” polypropylene rope (at least 30’ for a 10’ swarm trap)
Pulleys, x2
10” screw hook
Metal ring (~2” diameter)
Stainless steel spring snap, x2
Tools:
Drill driver
20’ extension ladder
Climbing harness (optional but SO nice)
Screw driver (or something for leverage to secure hook into tree)
