General Manoj Pande appointed new Indian Army Chief

Currently serving as Vice Chief of the Army, Lieutenant General Manoj Pande has been appointed the next Chief of Indian Army. He will take over command of Indian Army on 1st May.

General Manoj Pande is the first officer from the Corps of Engineers to become the Indian Army Chief. His predecessor General Manoj Mukund Naravane would complete his tenure as Army Chief on 30 April.

Manoj Pande was commissioned in 1982. He is a graduate of Staff College Camberley, UK and National Defence College, USA. He served in UN mission in Ethiopia and Southern Command of the United States military. He hails from Nagpur. Pande is married to his childhood sweetheart Archana Salpekar.
