Affordable, Stable HD! A decade old camcorder that's better than you think!

The Panasonic HC-V100M is featured in this video, but the HC-V100 is the same camera without 16GB of built-in memory. It's odd thinking of an SD Card based camcorder as "vintage", but this model first became available in 2011. This is a long time ago as far advancements in video technology, but this model holds up well with quality optical image stabilization, decent image quality, and high reliability.

Unlike trouble-prone tape-based camcorders, if you find one of these used, it will probably be in working order, as there are few things that can go wrong with it. Replacement batteries are affordable and widely compatible with other Panasonic camcorders, and prices on used units are quite low.

The picture quality of this camcorder is better than any standard definition tape based format (VHS, S-VHS, Betamax, Video8, Hi8, Digital8, Mini DV), and SD cards offers greater reliability and convenience than video tape. So if you are wanting to shoot steady HD footage, but you cannot afford a new camcorder or HD smart phone, you should consider a used Panasonic HC-V100M or HC-V100.
