"He Is Risen, He Is Not Here!" Mark 16:1-16

Today is Resurrection Sunday! On Friday, we met together. We sang songs about the cross. We somberly reflected on the reality that for us to be saved, Jesus had to take God’s punishment for our sin. (God is just, and sin must be punished)
We left Friday with Jesus firmly settled in the grave. But today isn’t Friday. This is Sunday, the Third Day. This is Resurrection Sunday! The stone was rolled away. The grave is empty. The Lord is alive.
As we unpack these verses from Mark’s account of the Gospel, notice that everything points to the Risen Lord. Do not be fooled, without the Resurrection, our hope is nothing more than a fairytale. If Christ could not conquer the grave, then what chance have we?
But Christ did rise, He did conquer the grave, and He did promise His followers life everlasting.
