It’s a bittersweet day on the homestead

It’s a bittersweet day on the farm as one of our Nigerian dwarf bucklings, Gibbs, is moving on to his new home. Gibbs was one of the four kids born to Violet earlier this year, along with Jethro, the other buckling, and two does, Calamity Jane and Minnie Pearl. As we continue to grow our herd we’ll be retaining the does and moving the bucks on to new farms.

It never fails that every time we try to do something that involves traveling with the goats the weather completely falls apart. We picked up Brandi Carlile and Annie Oakley in-between two ice storms and bitter cold temperatures, and today it began pouring rain the moment we started to load the car. That’s our luck I reckon.

Our children, Keeton and Riley, adore these little goats, and it was tough on them to see Gibbs leave. We did our best to explain that it’s part of life on a farm and in time they will grow to understand this. Megan halfway (maybe more?) hopes she’ll get to keep Jethro. Time will tell how that shakes out! Thanks for watching!
