The Reason Behind The Philippines Won't Be Able To Buy Gripen Fighters From Sweden

It is known that the Philippines has an interest in acquiring the Gripen fighter from the Swedish Saab Group

In the Philippine Government's proposal, they will acquire 12 DOE 39D "Gripen" fighters, quoted from Defense Security Asia.

But for this reason, the Saab Group could not sell it. More broadly, European countries cannot establish military relations with the Southeast Asian country.

It turns out that the Swedish Government did not give permission to Saab Group to sell Gripen due to bad human rights issues in the Philippines.

"After several meetings the country's Export Control Board has decided not to grant an export license to Saab Group which would allow the company to export DOE 39D fighter jets to the Philippines," Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet said.
