Type 89 15 cm cannon -八九式十五糎加農砲 - Walkaround - Yushukan Museum.

Two of these howitzers that were used in these fortifications are now on display at the Yushukan WW2 museum in Tokyo.
The Type 89 and 96 Howitsers were dug into the caves and were knocked out in the fighting, they were salvaged after WW2 and the 96 was placed in front of the Veterans Club in Okinawa and in 1966 it was donated to the Yushukan museum and restored and placed outside. the 89 was placed in the collection of the Okinawa WW2 museum but was send to Yushukan in the 1970's.

The Type 89 15 cm canon was the main heavy gun of the Imperial Japanese Army's heavy artillery units and would see service from 1929 until the end of ww2.
The Type 96 was intended to replace the Type 4 150 mm howitzer, the development of the howitzer took the observations the Japanese made in WW1 in account.
but the 96 development took almost 2 decades, and it was eventually ready in 1934, but War Minister general Ugaki found it to be lacking and productions was halted until 1937
