Is the Coronavirus Act still necessary?

As expected the Coronavirus Act was once again renewed for a further 6 months today following a pultry 90 minutes of debate.

Whilst many of the more draconian policies are drawn from the Public Health Act 1984, the Coronavirus Act has become synonymous with a state of emergency.

It is evident from the discussion that the government is gearing up to ramp up restrictions this winter, yet the discussion had an undertone of frustration amongst MPs regarding the lack of scrutiny and due process.
