Richmond Hill and Markham, driving along Highway 404. Early a.m. The 404 is a "northern extension" of the Don Valley Parkway.

The highway was built in the 1970s.

There have been extensions - such as in 1999, the highway was extended from Davis Drive to Green Lane. Then it was extended to Woodbine (near Ravenshoe) in Georgina (2014).

King's Highway 404 is an important corridor in the Greater Toronto Area. It connects Toronto to Georgina. The highway is a major freeway that runs through the heart of York Region (Markham, Richmond Hill, Aurora, Newmarket, East Gwillimbury, Georgina...)

Many people from these large neighbourhoods (Markham, Aurora etc) in the suburban and semi-rural outskirts of Toronto use the 404 to commute for work.
