Things did NOT go as planned!

Our new baby is here but things definitely did not go as planned in the first few days postpartum! Megan got very sick but thankfully she’s pushing through it. The work never stops on the farm and there’s lots to update you on, so thanks for watching!

We’re about one month out from the butchering date on our beef steer and it’s time to get him finished out. We finish our beef on grain as opposed to grass because we like the marbling that grain gives the meat. The steer will spend his last month in the barn getting fat on feed and a small amount of hay to keep his rumen happy.

One of our wether goats, Jethro, got sick with a case of coccidiosis 10 days before Megan was scheduled to have the baby. So the last week and half before then was a whirlwind as the goats needed medicine to treat the pest, and then vitamin B to help replace what the medicine depleted from their systems! Breeding season for the goats is still underway and we’re still excited for baby goats in the spring of 2022!

After being laid up for a whole week Megan is finally feeling better. It’s safe to say all her animals missed her. We’re excited to share our little boy with our YouTube family but that will need to wait until after the Thanksgiving holiday. Thanks for watching GWP Homestead – we’ll see y’all soon!
