Japan: Pro-Kiev rally held in Tokyo against Russian military intervention in Ukraine

Dozens of Japanese and Ukrainian residents in Japan rallied at Shinjuku ward in Tokyo to protest against the ongoing military conflict between Ukraine and Russia. Footage filmed on Sunday shows protesters holding banners with anti-war slogans chanting and singing songs. "Please let's stop the war. There is nothing great that comes from a war. And I was brought up in a country that was saying that the World War II was terrible, saying that and so many people suffered. We must stop it," said Ukrainian resident in Japan Sasha. On the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military offensive against Ukraine. On February 21, he had signed decrees recognising the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR). Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has imposed martial law throughout the country and announced a general mobilisation. Russia's military offensive has drawn international condemnation from the EU, UK, and US, among other countries, and led to heavy sanctions imposed on Moscow.
