Speaking with reporters virtually and on Parliament Hill, representatives from various human rights organizations mark the 40th anniversary of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms by calling attention to rights violations of racialized Canadians and certain minority communities. Taking part in the news conference are Marilou McPhedran (Independent Senator for Manitoba); Fareed Khan (founder of Canadians United Against Hate); Alex Ihama (executive director of the Canadian Congress on Diversity); Thomas Woodley (president of Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East); Aaron Lakoff (communications and media lead for Independent Jewish Voices); and John Packer (director of the Human Rights Research and Education Centre at the University of Ottawa).
