The Warriors are unstoppable with 8 straight wins in a row, and here you can see exactly why that is and how deadly they execute their plays.
Initially this looks like a play for Steph as Kuminga goes to screen for him. But we’ll stop it right here and notice that Curry hasn’t even thrown this pass, Kuminga already changes direction since he knows what’s about to happen. Pass here, then another one for him under the basket.
And as we let it roll, we kind of get an idea that this was a designed play that he makes it a lot more flashy with his leaping abilities on this beautiful dunk.
Again in transition, the defense is not fully set, so as Klay relocates to the opposite corner, watch Kuminga signaling to Steph. And you already know what this means and what follows. A pick for Klay, a rifle pass to the corner and a swish from Klay.
Watch Curry on the replay just knowing that this one goes in. Man you gotta love the Warriors.
And speaking of Thompson, he is officially back since he had one of those classic Klay games.
Dude started 6/6 from downtown, and check out the last one, the dagger in transition, knifing through the hearts of Kings fans.
Back to the video, to this beautiful run from Duncan Robinson. Initially the setup is for him to come out here. He instead dives to the basket but the defender stays with him. So follow him as he’s going to come back, pretend to set a pick for Vincent right here, and as the defense expect the dive in the paint from Gabe, Robinson instead takes off gets a screen, then ultimately comes back to his original spot on the handoff and you can see he is wide open for this shot and he knocks it down. Again all of this happens in 1 fluid motion and that’s why he’s so tough to chase around all over the court.
The Raptors killed Chicago with their smaller lineup and great screening. Right here we have Van Vleet and Siakam at the elbows and as Pascal gets the ball, Freddie sets a back screen for Barnes. If the Bulls switch it, Scottie is much bigger than Dosunmu and could probably finish over him, and as you can see Vucevic is too slow to get out of it, so Barnes gets it underneath and finishes.
And you’re about to see the same thing but it’s not a replay. Same play, same back screener in Van Vleet, only difference is this time Ochuwa is the passer from the elbow, and O.G. Anunoby is the beneficiary.
And finally to seal the game, the Raptors exploit Dosunmu and Vucevic yet again.
On these 2 screens up top, Freddie is going to be aggressive, forcing Lavine to help.
As the switch happens, you see Gary Trent Jr out on the 3 point line with Vuc having to cover him. He, as well as Lavine signal to Ayo to go back, but it’s already too late and he’s too deep on that side, so Van Vleet finds the shooter all alone for the game clinching shot.
Moving on. I wanna shout out Reggie Jackson for how he handles this pick and roll action.
You see him attacking AD, forcing the switch and a mismatch for Ibaka. So watch him pump fake to keep Davis attached to him. So having the defense commit to the switch, now is the easy part. Pass to Batum, another one down low for Ibaka and the score.
And speaking of Reggie Jackson I have to highlight the game winning bucket, not because it was a great play call, but just because he kind of knew that he would make it.
Even tho they’re down by 1, look at the hop, the pep in his step on his way to the game winning drive. That’s hilarious.
Anyway great spin move to get out of that double team, great adjustment mid air and the contested floater banks in for the win. Amazing.
And finally, another move that’s not a play design but I want to feature it in this video.
Coaches always say never jump on the pass, but Beverley was right to do that right here.
On the replay we see that he notices Saddiq Bey being between these 2 Timberwolves, so Beverley jumps and fakes the pass under the basket, forcing Bey to commit there.
That leaves Taurean Prince open for the corner 3 and he swishes it.
As I wrap up this video, shoutout to all of you guys who asked for the shot on the mini hoop at the end of my videos. That will be coming back on Monday, but also I got much much more in store for you. Stay tuned and definitely don’t miss that upload on Monday.
Talk to you in the next one, peace out.
