Finding Info about Hyperbolas (all from Formula)

Hello there! For today's video, think of it as a part 2 from the previous video about Graphing Hyperbolas. For questions regarding hyperbolas, there are usually two different types: graphing hyperbolas based on information given and finding information based on given hyperbola formula. If you haven't seen my previous video on Graphing Hyperbolas, you can watch it here: https://rumble.com/vz8vo6-introduction-to-graphing-hyperbolas.html

In this video, we still talk about the vocabulary of hyperbolas but I will walk you through how to find all the information needed from the graph and formula.

Center (h,k)
Vertex (h+/-a,k) or (h,k+/-b)
Co-Vertex (h,k+/-b) or (h+/-a,k)
Transverse 2a or 2b
Asymptote +/- (b/a) or +/- (a/b) Whichever a or b corresponds to the y-coordinate, that should be what you use on top. This gives you the slope. Sometimes you may be asked to provide the line of the asymptote so be prepared to use the point-slope form.
Foci squareroot(a^2+b^2)
