FORD TRANSIT MINIBUS now made by Uruguay

Ford launched the Commercial Vehicles Division in Brazil, which will operate in the region as part of the new global Ford Pro organization, dedicated to the professional segment – see the video. The new business area is already born with a dedicated engineering, manufacturing, sales, after-sales and consumer experience structure, including connectivity resources to offer a complete solution to commercial customers, focused on productivity.

Ford Transit is a reference in the van segment in the world and one of the pillars of the brand's new commercial vehicle business. With more than 60 years of history that practically tell the entire evolution of the category and more than 10 million units produced, it has been the sales leader in the United States and Europe for six consecutive years. As part of the ongoing evolution, Europe has already announced the arrival of the E-Transit electric version, which paves the way for the future development of the range.

For the launch in Brazil and South America, Transit underwent an extensive program carried out by Brazilian engineering at the Ford Product Development Center in Bahia and at Campo de Provas de Tatuí, in the interior of São Paulo, in partnership with the brand engineering in England and Germany.

This program included more than 20,000 hours of engineering work and the equivalent of 1 million km driven in real-world conditions in performance, validation and durability tests to meet consumers' unique climate, roads, fuel, traffic and driving characteristics. Brazilians and South Americans.

The same care was devoted to manufacturing, in the new factory built in partnership with Nordex, in Uruguay – the fifth to produce Transit in the world, alongside Turkey, Russia, China and the United States –, with an investment of US$50 million .

Transit is recognized around the world for delivering everything that the customer values most in this segment: low cost of ownership, durability, robustness, good load capacity, safety, good purchase price and functionality, easy to be adapted for various purposes. . And it comes with other advantages.

The line will be produced initially in the passenger model, or Minibus, in versions for 15 or 16 occupants, and 18 or 19 occupants, including the driver, adapted in a specific ModCenter, in addition to the so-called glazed version, without seats, for the customer to configure as needed. The cargo version, or Van, arrives soon after with the options of medium or long cabin, also configurable according to the customer's needs.

Ford has also developed a network of certified transformers and adapters to make the changes that the customer needs in the Transit, with technical support and quality assurance.

Connectivity is one of Transit's great differentials to be able to operate without downtime for as long as possible. It is the first to come with an on-board modem, FordPass Connect, which puts the vehicle in the palm of the customer's hand wherever he is and also streamlines services for him to gain productivity and optimize his working time.

With the FordPass application, the customer can know the status of the Transit, its location in real time and send remote commands by cell phone. Such as, for example, locking and unlocking doors, starting, checking the fuel level, mileage and how much is left until the next service.

Another important function is the failure mode alert. The on-board modem works in tandem with all Transit electronic systems and can identify over 3,000 failure modes, from lack of water in the windshield wiper reservoir or underinflated tire, for example, to variations in engine performance.
