Could a new coal mine help remediate old environmental hazards in the Crowsnest Pass?

There are two abandoned and unreclaimed old coal mines which currently pose an environmental problem in the southern Alberta rockies. But according to Crowsnest Pass Mayor Blair Painter, a new coal mine could actually help remediate these sites while enhancing the local economy for years to come. He also says the coal specifically available in the Crowsnest Pass region is premium metallurgical coal used for steelmaking.
