NZ Unite. Protest - Day 5 | Wellington | New Zealand

Protestors gathered at Cuba Mall in Wellington on Tuesday, April 5th 2022.

It was day five of the Unite. group’s 14 day protest against several political issues including vaccine mandates, government overreach and economic destruction. Day five’s focus was coercion. The protestors discussed how the government’s coercion of the population to be vaccinated, i.e. no jab, no job, had affected them and people they know.

The Unite. group provided a barbecue, food and drink for the protestors and the general public. Police had a visible presence in the area and lurked in the vicinity during the protest.

On March 23rd 2022, the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, announced an easing of the COVID restrictions that would become active at 23:59 April 4th 2022. However, mandates still apply to healthcare, border and elderly care workers.
