CAUTION about adlib feeding horses. Introducing massive amounts of feed to horses can cause colic

This winter I’m adlib feeding three of my older horses. One was very thin. It’s an usual method and not one is recommend. I got them used to a regular feed pattern and they gradually got used to having feed available 24/7. So they come and go from it during the day and night.
If you introduce such a massive feed source to horses they can colic. So do not do this.
They have adlib hay and crushed oats with other feed and fresh water. I feed turn within ear shot of where I sleep, so I’m aware of what’s going on 24/7.
