QE and Stocks: Correlation vs. Causation

What explains the correlation between quantitative easing and a rising stock market? I've found no direct causal relationship so far. The chart looks so obvious yet I cannot pinpoint the transmission channel. If QE is flooding into the stock market, how does it get there? If QE has no effect on stocks, what else explains this correlation?
