Yaje (Choliponga), and an Ayahuasca Vine, Growing Together.

On a recent visit to the Tsunki Shuar Cultural Center we were blessed with an encounter with oco yaje, (choliponga, chagraponga, Ecuadorian chacruna, Latin: diplopterys cabrerana ), the N,N DMT and 5-meo DMT containing ayahuasca admixture plant. This is the plan that used in place of chacruna, psychotira viridis, here in Ecuador, the plant that causes visions when brewed with b. capi, the ayahuasca vine. The Shuar have a very sophistcated tradition connected to these plants; they will trace lineages, know the lineage of the people that handed down different strains, and have uncountable variations of their version of ayahuasca called "natem," or "natema." Seeing the two plants growing together was quite an experience, especially since the leaves and bark of both yaje and ayahuasca would soon be flowing together...in our blood.
