Tokyo Vice is an HBO Max crime drama based on the book of the same name by Jake Adelstein brought to us by Warner Media. This story is based on the true events of the life of Adelstein as he becomes the first foreign born journalist of a major Japanese newspaper and chronicles his rise from the bottom of the organization. As Jake played by Ansel Elgort is taken under the wing of veteran detective Hiroto Katagiri of the organized crime division he is exposed to the seedy underbelly of the Japanese mafia known as the Yakuza. As they dig deeper into a string of murders Jake finds himself in a world he may not be able to escape from. Co-starring Rachel Keller, Hideaki Ito, Show Kasatsu, and Rinko Kikuchi.
