Welcome to the very first lesson in the Valley Baptist Church’s Lessons on Christian Growth.
We will be learning about who Jesus Christ is and why He came to the Earth.
Without Jesus, Christianity is nothing.
True Christians’ beliefs are in Christ and what He has done for us.
No religious person can be saved by what they have done or how they act.
Galatians 4:4-5 How did Jesus come into this world and for what purpose?
Jesus was born of a virgin.
Jesus did not have sin passed down to Him through man. Romans 5:12
Vs 5 Jesus was born into this world to give us the chance to be adopted.
Luke 2:40 Jesus went through a normal growing life.
He lived as we lived.
He struggled as we struggled.
He was filled with the wisdom of God because He is God.
There was nothing fancy about Jesus in looks or how He grow up.
Many religious arts have been drawn that do not show Jesus as He truly is.
John 4:6 Jesus became tired and had a physical body just as we do.
He became tired and had to sleep.
He became hungry and had to eat.
He suffered pain.
He was even tempted. Hebrews 4:15
John1:14 Jesus is God
John is telling people about the Word.
The Word is God
The Word has every attribute of God
Many false religions try to prove that Jesus is not God. Colossians 2:8, 2 Peter 2:1 Do not listen to every person who teaches the Bible.
John 5:18 The people tried to kill Jesus because He was God and claimed it openly.
John 10:30 Jesus and the Father are one together.
Hebrews 1:8 God called Jesus God.
Jesus Christ is both man and God.
Matthew 1:21 Jesus came to save His people from sin.
Romans 5:8 Christ died to save sinners
Isaiah 53:6 Jesus laid the sins of the entire world on Himself when He died on the cross for us.
Romans 5:10 We are reunited together with God through what Jesus did for us.
John 3:16 Jesus died for the entire world if they will only accept Him.
Romans 10:13 Jesus' death for us is free to any who is willing to receive His gift.
Hebrews 10:12 It is only His sacrifice that saves from sin. His sacrifice is forever.
