Muscle Intelligence podcast by Ben Pakulski

I fell through the low carb, paleo, keto, carnivore wormhole...
-then realized: wait a second
-the low fat people has just as many success stories!
-anyone who just lowers the fat will immediately have
~higher protein percentage
~higher satiety
~weight loss

I started down the protein percentage rathole...
-David Raubenheimer & Stephen Simpson, Australia:
-discovered the Protein Leverage Phenomenon
-humans and many animals eat until they get enough protein!
-and only then do they stop eating
-protein percentage is one of the
biggest drivers of ad lib energy intake
(ad lib: eat as much as you want)

Worldwide: hunter-gatherer diets are about 33% protein...
-Standard America Diet: 12.5% protein
-database of successful weight loss dieters: 20% protein
-prediabetics, T2D: if 30% protein, completely 100% cured!
-elite bodybuilders, 35 to 40% protein
"Percent calories from protein is
single biggest factor for...
how many calories you will eat!"

You can do low carb wrong...
-just eat tons of fat (protein % does not go up)
-so many patients have stalled out on keto diets
-if keto alone was the answer,
the whole community would be thin
"Every person on keto instantly loses
20 pounds, then stalls out"

Get past this plateau by cranking up the protein percentage...
-by eating leaner proteins
-get rid of really high fat foods and refined fats, like
~butter, heavy cream, oil, high fat dairy
-low fat can work the same way
If really smart, do both low carb & low fat
like body builders.
