After ouster of Imran Khan in a no-confidence move, Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz's) president and younger brother of Nawaz Sharif was elected as 23rd Prime Minister of Pakistan. He secured 174 votes.

Moments before his election, his opponent in Prime Minister's election, Shah Mahmood Qureshi and all members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf resigned and walked-out of the house. Provincial governors have also started resigning from their posts.

Meanwhile, President of Pakistan is also proceeding on leave and will not administer oath to the newly elected PM.
