Charlie Dates, lead pastor of Progressive Baptist Church Chicago, praises the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson from the pulpit on Sunday, April 10, 2022. Dates acknowledges that some people in his congregation may oppose Jackson ideologically, but they should still celebrate her appointment to the high court and see it as a gift from God.

Let me tell you, if you got some Lindsey Grahams in your life, if you got some Rand Pauls in your world, if you got some people who want to block what God wants to do in your life, you may suffer a long night, but God's able to do stuff.

And this week, our nation made history by appointing and confirming the first African-American woman to the Supreme Court. Dr. Ketanji Brown Jackson.

And there's a lot, you can take aim at a lot of stuff. I know we got some of y'all on the other side, and that's all right. We got people on both sides in this church, but this is a moment to be celebrated. It is a gift of grace to us to see.
