Sheriff Joe Lopinto discusses a millage to help police

Sheriff Joseph Lopinto is the Sheriff of Jefferson Parish. For people who live in the area, his good reputation is well known as is the good reputation of Jefferson Parish as a great place to live and work in a place with low crime statistics is also well known. And a a high quality of life is also a benefit of this Parish. In this video interview Sheriff Lopinto makes the case why his deputies deserve a raise through a millage increase which will be on the ballot at the end of April. They haven't had a raise in a long time and with crime on the rise from New Orleans right next door, their job is getting even more difficult, amidst rising costs of living due to inflation. I'm not for tax increases, but it seems to me after this interview that a slight increase would help keep career officers here and recruit new ones who are looking to have a career in our communities, keeping us all with that high quality of life that we enjoy here. Sheriff Lopinto makes a good case with some good pieces of information.
