Kush, the new drug terrorizing Sierra Leone
The "cheapness" of a new, illegal, low-cost drug is driving young people in Sierra Leone to a dark place.
Some go mad, others get hurt, and many commit crimes to support their addiction to kush: a mixture of shredded leaves and chemical elements that is consumed in the form of cigarettes.
Users of the drug pile up in the psychiatric wards of local hospitals and the police fight a tough battle to get it out of circulation.
In this report, video producer Tyson Conteh investigates for BBC Africa Eye the relentless march of kush, which is spreading like wildfire and reaching ever younger users.
Can the country stop the spread of this addictive drug?
Check out the video.
