Tefé is a Brazilian municipality in the interior of the state of Amazonas, in the northern region of the country. Belonging to the Mesoregion of Centro Amazonense and Microregion of the same name,

Its population, according to estimates by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in 2015, was 62,444 inhabitants. Its territorial area is 23,808 km, being the forty-eighth largest municipality in Brazil in area and the twenty-third in Amazonas.

It is 523 km from Manaus, the state capital, and 2,304 km from Brasília, the national capital.
