Abaetetuba is a municipality in the state of Pará, in Brazil. Belonging to the Cametá Microregion, which in turn is part of the Northeast Mesoregion of Pará. Its population in 2014 is estimated at 148,873 inhabitants, it is the hub city of the Baixo Tocantins Region and the 7th most populous in the state. The municipality is located on the banks of the Maratauíra River, a tributary of the Tocantins River. The Municipality comprises two districts: Abaetetuba, its seat, and Vila de Beja. Abaetetuba is one of the municipalities in Pará that has the privilege of having a very strong culture of its own.
