Operation Barbarossa was the code name for the failed invasion of the Joseph Stalin's Soviet Union by Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany. This massive Invasion started on Sunday 22nd June 1941 during World War II.   Hitler had a pact or truce with Stalin that neither country would attack or invade the other.  Only after Adolf Hitler lost the Battle of Britain he was lost on what to do next or who to attack next.   Hitler made the biggest blunder in his life that would result in his losing his life and the total destruction of Nazi Germany in early 1945.

This would be one of if not the biggest battle in mankind's history.   With some 10 million plus German & Russian soldiers facing off in a do or die battle.   The battle would see the largest ever tank on tank and artillery on artillery battles ever.   The battle involved more than 15,000 tanks, 12,000+ armored vehicles of all kinds, 30-40,000 artillery guns, some 15,000 aircraft of all kinds, 30,000+ mortars, 600,000 "horses" and over 900,000 vehicles of all kinds.   Total military casualties Germany/Axis 1,000,000+.    Russians military casualties 5,000,000.

Our 12 part series on Hitler's failed Operation Barbarossa covers the battle in detail.  Using actual combat footage shot by both sides.

This is (Part 1 of 12) of Adolf Hitler's Operation Barbarossa Initial success and eventual failure.  I got the idea of the Operation Barbarossa when a friend gave me a book by Paul Carell.  The book is Paul Carell Operation Barbarossa In Photographs.   This is an outstanding book with hundreds of incredible photos from all sides that were involved in the massive battle.

Actual combat footage is used to produce our videos that came from each side during WW2.   The only editing that has been done was to enhance the video and audio quality.   Our videos are created to educational purposes for future generations.  If we do not learn from our history, we are doomed to repeat the mistakes again.

This is evident of the brutal illegal invasion/war that Vladimir Putin's Russia has launched against the Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.  Only with the weapons that mankind has created since World War II, we risk total and complete destruction of the entire planet with war today.  It appears Mr. Putin did not learn from Russia's own history of being attacked by Nazi Germany.   The people attacked will rise up and fight back.  Something Putin and the Russian soldier are learning the hard way and at a very high cost of Russian soldier's lives.

One thing that we can learn from Adolf Hitler's Operation Barbarossa is that (Political Leaders) should never make military plans and interfere with their military planers.  When they do things are bound to go wrong and your forces are doomed to defeat.
