Socialism foolishly rejects a holistic understanding of property. Socialism views property solely through the lens of the means of production and proclaims that only a "social" and communitarian ownership of those means makes equality possible. But Mr. Watson argues that property, properly understood, goes beyond the means of production - a fact socialism does not account for and therefore proceeds in error.

Mr. Watson also argues that the principle of specialization makes civilized life easier, and socialism seems to reject that by wanting to equalize who can possess certain goods/services. Rejecting specialization is a good way for human beings to miss their potential, and for societies to become inefficient.
