Bearly Awake: The Moment Bear Awakes From Hibernation After Four Months

moment that this grizzly bear emerged from it's four month slumber has been captured on camera.

Boo, the bear, had been hibernating during the winter and finally exited from his den at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Golden, British Columbia on the first day of spring, March 20th.

The tentative beast made and opening in the untouched snow and gradually poked his head for a quick scout of the surrounding areas before making his way out.

He then ventured out into the open and finally basked in the sun for the first time in a quarter of a year.

Marketing & Media Coordinator for the resort, Aaron McCartney said: "We were extremely excited to capture the initial moment of him coming out of the den, after 20 years we have only been able to capture this moment twice on camera.

"Boo was extremely slow and lethargic coming out of his den. Boo is currently transitioning from his torpor state to a phase we call “walking hibernation” where his body is reversing the dormancy
