Sergey Rachmaninov's "Vocalise" is a chamber music all time favourite and Ikki Opitz, 2nd violin´s voice leader in the orchestra of Deutsche Oper Berlin, marks this song full of romantic beauty and floating sentiment for our series OUR FAVOURITES - in an arrangement for violin by Jascha Heifetz. Maxime Perrin accompanies him on the grand piano, dramaturge Lars Gebhardt speaks introductory words.

"Vocalise" is a song by Sergei Rachmaninoff, composed and published in 1915 as the last of his 14 Songs or 14 Romances, Op. 34. Written for high voice with piano accompaniment, it contains no words, but is sung using only one vowel of the singer's choosing. It was dedicated to soprano singer Antonina Nezhdanova.
